Happy Homecoming

Wow, what a whirlwind of a week. It seems fitting that my last Homecoming at Concordia was the best one yet. Part of me thinks that it is because I'm finally old enough to actually "have a good time", but I know that there's more to this wonderful experience.

For one, it was great to see the efforts of some of my best friends put into action as we planned this amazing celebration. It wasn't always easy to be a part of this committee this year, but seeing it all in action made it completely worth it. I loved being part of such an amazing group of Cobbers that worked hard to complete their goal. In this case our goal was to have an awesome Homecoming, and I am happy to say that we definitely succeeded (Shout out to Lindsay Jacobs and the whole exec team for making this possible).

This was also the first year that I actually got to appreciate the alumni who returned. Not that I haven't enjoyed meaningful conversations with alumni in past years. The big difference is that some of my best friends graduated last year and it was so great to welcome them home. It was reassuring to know that they are surviving in the real world. Of course they all had something to say, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but nevertheless, I appreciated the advice and stories from their lives after college. I was happy to find that they hadn't yet forgotten about the place that they learned to call home, and even more happy to realize that they won't be doing that any time soon.

I think that's another reason that this particular Homecoming was so great. I have always called Concordia my home away from home, but it wasn't until this year that I really felt it. This place and the people that are here have made me accept Concordia my home. I'm happy that I finally realized this feeling that people often refer to; it makes me excited to think about returning next year, or whenever I can.

Finally, it's always great to find an excuse to celebrate life as a Cobber. We are always looking for reasons to have a good time, and I have to admit that we definitely had a good time this weekend-- at least I know I did.

Major thank you to anyone who helped celebrate our wonderful school this weekend. You are all amazing and I am lucky to know you. This was one of the best weekends of my life and it was all because of you. See you all next year.
